RRL Holdings (Pty) Ltd was founded in 2001 by Ted Zulu as a black owned rail business. On the 1st January 2009, Grindrod Limited acquired a 50% shareholding in the business and the business was renamed RRL Grindrod. The business continues to be black owned through Solethu's empowerment credentials. This transaction has created a number of synergies and competitive advantages for the group.
The company supports a lean corporate structure, with qualified and supporting staff, to ensure quality of service at competitive rates. RRL Grindrod has the policy, where possible, to employ existing staff on outsourced projects and to develop people from the immediate community, when awarded new contracts. The company conducts ongoing internal and external training programmes.
RRL Grindrod has been awarded a level 1 BEE rating for Black Economic Empowerment. RRL Grindrod complies with all legislation that seeks to redress imbalances of the past.
RRL Grindrod believes in sound operational methods and procedures and has ISO 9001:2008 accreditation. The company is also a registered permit holder with the Railway Safety Regulator. RRL Grindrod is committed to becoming the leading supplier of outsourced rail related services in South Africa.
