Locomotive Leasing
RRL Grindrod can provide fully maintained locomotives that can be leased to our clients as per clients specifications. RRL Grindrod has a large fleet of fully mantained locomotives that have been leased to a number of mining clients and state railways within the African Continent. RRL Grindrod has a locomotive maintenance team based on site at our clients premises to ensure that our locomotives are operational on a 24/7 basis and there downtime is kept to a minimum. RRL Grindrod is willing to invest in new locomotives or build them according to our clients specifications and provide a leasing alternative to our clients.
Locomotive Operations
RRL Grindrod provides an full operational team for specific client requirements that comprise drivers, shunters and general workers. We provide the entire scope of services from loading and offloading of wagons, tippler operations, shunting, short haul and building of train sets.
Inbound and Outbound rail CARGO management
We provide a service to our clients in liasing with State Railways to ensure that the inbound and outbound rail cargo management is effectively managed.
Building and Refurbishment of Locomotives
We have a 3000 square metre facility on the outskirts of Pretoria to build locomotives for our clients. We build new locomotives according to client specifications and refurbish existing locomotives. Our technical team has over 100 years of cumulative experience in building and refurbishing locomotives.
Locomotive Maintenance
RRL Grindrod has maintenance contracts with a number of mining entities and with State Railways across Africa whereby we maintain locomotives and ensure that all major overhauls are completed in a timely manner.
Rail Track Maintenance and Rail Track Construction
Through our associate company, Racec Rail, we can provide a maintenance team to maintain railway lines as well as build railway lines through out Africa. Racec Rail has successfully operated within most African countries and has 50 years of experience in building and maintaining railway lines.
Rail Safety Consultancy
RRL Grindrod has succesfully operated client's entire rail systems according to the South African Rail Safety Regulations. RRL Grindrod has a tremendous amount of expertise in this regard. RRL Grindrod will assist any client with respect to Rail Safety Regulations ensuring that all the regulations are adhered to as well as updating the client or any changes to the regulation.
